A Portland police officer helps a Police Activities League archery program grow and reach more kids

Jordan Moore fastens a quiver to his belt loop, fills it with arrows, then chooses a bow from a rack nearby. When it’s his turn to shoot, the 13-year-old takes a deep breath before letting the arrow zing toward its target.

This isn’t a scene from “The Hunger Games.” It’s a Thursday afternoon archery class at the Police Activities League in East Portland.
