Houma Police are not the bad guys — that’s the message officers want their newest program to send to Terrebonne’s youth.
Big Brothers Big Sisters in Blue, an idea hatched by dispatching supervisor Rosie Little, is in its infancy, but she and others say they’re excited about its potential.
“We want to reach as many kids in the parish as possible, not just black or white, rich or poor. We have to bring all of those together, forgetting all the ‘eastside-versus-westside’ stuff,” Little said.
In her 30 years at the department, and through her participation in Neighborhood Watch programs, Little said she has seen the same problems with the same kids and has identified confinement as a common issue.
