A recent string of DUII arrests involving officers is prompting the Portland Police Bureau to take a look at how they can help their own deal with the stresses of the job.
The most recent arrest happened in Gladstone Friday night. That’s when Officer Randy Vanderhoof, who was off duty, was found sleeping in his truck near a bus stop. Vanderhoof failed both a field sobriety and breath test. His blood alcohol level was not released.
Vanderhoof is a 19-year veteran of the Portland Police Bureau who was assigned to the K-9 Unit. He has since been reassigned to the Telephone Reporting Unit pending the DUII case and internal investigation.
