As part of the upcoming 9-11 anniversary the Star News is publishing a special section that will include both local and national coverage. Part of our local coverage involves 9 (I may be off by one) vignettes of various area first responders and showing what they do on a daily basis. I was given three of the vignettes and was able to spend a some time with each in the past week while they were on the job. I wanted to highlight each experience in a blog post.
On Saturday I met Kure Beach Police Officer Ron Thigpen at the police headquarters in Kure Beach and rode around with him to see what his day is like during a typical shift. As you can imagine there really is no “typical” shift. Everyday is different and of course things come up unexpectedly, but in general Kure Beach is a fairly relaxed and family friendly atmosphere.
