Redding’s top cop is new head of state police chief’s group

Douglas Fuchs thought it would be a good idea to apply for the job when Redding advertised for a police chief in 2002.

The town was changing from a department where Connecticut State Police were primarily responsible for local law enforcement through the resident trooper program to having its own police force. Then a lieutenant in Ridgefield, Fuchs decided his career would benefit in the long run if he went through the interview process.
