(AP) Thirty teenagers will be spending a week at the State Police Training Academy in Meriden learning the rigors of law enforcement.
American Legion Youth Week runs from Sunday through Friday.
The cadets are 16- and 17-year-old high school students from as far away as Florida chosen by the American Legion from a pool of applicants. They’ll live at the academy during the week and participate in a variety of learning sessions, from patrol techniques and accident investigations to firearms training and criminal probes.
They’ll also undergo physical conditioning, inspections and drills like regular cadets do.
A graduation ceremony will be held on Friday.
