And it’s only took us 79 years! We’re making so much progress, ladies!
Capt. Tracy S. Russillo, who has overseen the Virginia State Police’s Northern Virginia region from Fairfax for the last three years, is now going to be the highest ranking woman in the department’s 79-year history. The state police announced Friday she would be promoted to major, the first female ever to hold that position.
Russillo, 44, has been a state trooper for 22 years, and was also an area commander in Winchester and a field lieutenant in Culpeper, as well as a sergeant at the state police academy. She got her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from George Mason University.
