City honors police officers, citizens

From breaking up an extensive open-air drug market ring to pulling an attempted suicide jumper from the ledge of a parking garage, the exceptional work of Evanston’s police force and citizenry was recognized Thursday evening police department awards ceremony.

“The purpose of this ceremony is to publicly recognize police officers and citizens who have demonstrated a commitment and dedication to the Evanston community that promotes a better quality of life in the city of Evanston,” said Deputy Chief Jeff Jamraz.

More than 40 awards were presented, with each officer or citizen receiving a plaque or certificate from Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl and police Chief Richard Eddington.
