Clairton police Officer Jim Kuzak won’t let gunshot wounds stop him from supporting Special Olympics athletes in Pennsylvania.

Kuzak planned to participate in today’s Law Enforcement Torch Run before he was shot while responding to an April home invasion in Clairton. He is in a wheelchair because of his injuries, but he will be with fellow officers as they run about 2 1/2 miles in the 150-mile trip from PNC Park to State College, site of the Special Olympics Pennsylvania Summer Games.

“He’s determined to follow through with his promise to participate,” Clairton Chief Rob Hoffman said.
