New K9 units ready to take a bite out of crime

Florida’s Miramar Police Department hosted a graduation ceremony for five K-9 officers and their handlers on Tuesday. It’s a moment Aventura

Police Officer Luis Chaidez has been waiting 13 years for.

“It’s always been something I wanted to do,” Chiadez said.

Chaidez used to help the trainers and handlers on his lunch breaks when he worked as a dispatcher. He would hide and wait for the dogs to find him, hoping one day he would be a K-9 handler. Now he is.

“It’s going to be rewarding,” Chaidez said.
