After getting about three hours of sleep a night, experiencing stressful situations and receiving 80-plus hours of training in five days, 39 police officers graduated from the Utah County Metro SWAT Team’s annual “Hell Week.”
This was the 14th “Hell Week” held by the Metro SWAT team, April 29-May 3. The first “Hell Week” took place in 1999 when the Metro SWAT Team was formed. A SWAT team, or special weapons and tactics team, is trained to perform high-risk operations that fall outside of the abilities of regular officers. SWAT teams are often equipped with specialized firearms and have specialized equipment like heavy body armor and shields, night vision optics, armored vehicles and specialized entry tools.
