Fremont gets new K-9 crime fighter

Fremont’s newest weapon to combat crime comes in the four-legged variety.

Duke, the department’s new K-9 unit, has been on patrol for the past three weeks with Officer Anthony Orsi.

An 18-month-old German shepherd, Duke is the department’s third K-9 officer. The last, Luk, was decommissioned in 2009 because of age.

Orsi, who has been with the department a little more than two years, said he jumped at the chance to work with the K-9.
