Cops thank Vassar Brothers for Falcone’s care

Four weeks after City of Poughkeepsie police Detective John Falcone was fatally shot in the line of duty, some of his fellow officers returned to Vassar Brothers Medical Center to thank the doctors, nurses and other staff for all they had done to try to save his life.

In a half-hour ceremony at the medical center organized by Town of Poughkeepsie resident John Flowers, officers from the City and Town of Poughkeepsie, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and the state police handed long-stemmed roses to more than 40 Vassar Brothers employees. Following the ceremony, the officers and other city officials handed out another 700 roses to staff members and others throughout the hospital.
