The Jo Daviess County sheriff’s office says Sheriff Kevin Turner will present a $500 scholarship to a student from the county.
The sheriff’s office says the Illinois Sheriff’s Association will award more than $53,000 in college scholarships statewide to students looking to pursue higher education during the 2011-2012 academic year.
Turner’s office in Galena says the $500 can be used for tuition, books and fees. Students have to be enrolled at a certified Illinois institution of higher learning.
Applications are available online and include an essay question. They are due by March 11.
