When the Fullerton Police Department lost one of its dogs to forced retirement earlier this year, a lean budget obligated the department to go hat-in-hand to the public for donations to buy a new one.
Late last month, the department got an early Christmas present from longtime volunteers Bruce and Fran Mueller. The Fullerton couple donated $10,000, the amount the department needed to purchase a new dog.
The pair has spent more than five years as part of the department’s Retired Seniors Volunteer Patrol program.
Bruce Mueller got them involved because of his strong curiosity about the way the Police Department works, and they both came to enjoy their time with the department.
