Imminent Threat: A Documentary Film

IMMINENT THREAT is a documentary about one SWAT team as their skills, knowledge, and abilities are challenged – both physically and emotionally – during Urban Shield, a one of a kind full-scale training exercise funded by Homeland Security. The SWAT competition is designed to evaluate and hone law enforcement’s ability to effectively respond to large scale, man-made or natural disasters.  The film follows one SWAT team as they compete against 25 other teams (from across the nation and around the world) for 48 consecutive hours at 30 locations across the San Francisco Bay Area.

Injured Clayton Co. K-9 receives big donation

This is so WONDERFUL!! Lakota is absolutely beautiful…hope he and his partner make a FULL recovery!

Wednesday night, 11Alive News aired the story of Lakota, a Clayton County K-9 in critical condition after he and his police officer partner were injured in the line of duty.

The K-9 was ejected from his seat during a  that left his partner, Officer Travis Fox, in the hospital as well. The officer and his wife Corey agreed to adopt Lakota, but in doing so, they were stuck with thousands of dollars in surgery costs for the dog.

Thanks to two people who watched that story, we have to great news to report.

Cop jams suspect’s gun with finger

A New York policeman has saved his own life by jamming his ring finger between the hammer and cylinder of a gun when a suspect tried to shoot him in the stomach during a struggle.

Sergeant Michael Miller and his partner were arresting passengers in a speeding car when Eugene Graves pulled a gun on him, the New York Daily News reports.

Madison police dog makes ‘phenomenal’ recovery

One of the Madison Police Department’s most determined crime fighters is getting back on his feet — all four of them — after defying a life-threatening illness.

K9 Ivan, the partner of Officer Henry Wilson, returned home Monday after a six-day stay at the UW Veterinary Care Small Animal Hospital, where he was treated for a near-fatal infection and pneumonia.

“We actually thought we were going to lose him,” said Sgt. Chris Boyd, who leads the canine unit.

Vineland K-9 dies on the job

Clif, a 5-year-old German shepherd who could charm school children and aggressively pursue a wanted suspect, became the first police K-9 in Vineland’s history to die in the line of duty.Just after 5 a.m. Monday, a tracking assignment went horribly wrong when a car struck Clif as he and his partner Sgt. William Bontcue wrapped up a search for a burglary suspect here.

K-9 in crash released from hospital

A police dog has been released from an animal hospital after a cruiser crash that also injured his human partner.

Rudi, a Plantation Police K-9, left the Hollywood Animal Hospital Monday after being involved in a serious car crash last week.

Rescuers took Rudi out of the back of the squad car and to the hospital when Plantation Police K-9 Officer Curtis Hampton and Rudi were involved in a head-on collision. A sport utility vehicle jumped the median in the 6900 block of West Broward Boulevard and struck Hampton’s vehicle.

Corporal, K-9 partner at Florence County Sheriff’s Office named Team of the Year

Florence County Sheriff’s Office Corporal Chad Reid and his K-9 partner, Kim, were named the National K-9 Interdiction Team of the Year for 2011 by the American Police Canine Association (APCA), according to a press release from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.

This prestigious award was presented to Reid and Kim at the APCA annual awards banquet Sept. 29 in Hobart, Ind.  Sheriff Kenney Boone and other members of FCSO were present for the presentation of the award.

Boca cops lift car to save child trapped underneath

When the three Boca Raton officers were called to a child trapped under a car, they didn’t have time to think. So they lifted, police said, and the 6-year-old boy was saved.

It was two minutes after the 8 a.m. bell on Wednesday and the teachers were headed to class when Dominic DeRoberts, a first-grader at Verde Elementary School, got out of his grandfather’s car, the DeRoberts family said.

A Lesson for the NYPD: Jersey Cop Gives Own Wife a Parking Ticket

With hundreds of cops ensnared in a massive NYPD ticket-fixing scandal, perhaps New York’s Finest can take a cue from a police chief just 10 miles from Manhattan.

Chief Vincent Caruso of Lodi, N.J., ordered his own wife to be ticketed for double-parking after one of his cops gave her a pass for double parking in front of their kids’ school.

Good boy, Max! Job well done!

The Estherville Police Department said farewell far too soon to one of its own on Wednesday, Oct. 5 with the passing of Max, the 100 percent German shepherd officer, who was sworn in by Mayor Lyle Hevern on April 21, 2008.

The trained K-9 was born in Czechoslovakia and trained at Brodie’s Kennels in Tennessee. He and his handler, Estherville Police Officer Matt Reineke, underwent the final two weeks of training together before the 18-month-old dog moved into the Reineke home and joined the police force.
