Bethel police officer is Exchange Club’s Officer of the Year

Steve Pugner’s father was a police officer in Redding for 27 years, but that’s not the only reason he chose to pursue a career in law enforcement.

“It was just being able to make a difference to the community I live in,” said the 40-year-old Pugner, now a corporal with the Bethel Police Department.

Born and raised in Redding, Pugner, who had been an auxiliary officer with his hometown department, moved to Bethel when he was hired just over 11 years ago.
