Miami-Dade’s K-9 unit receives bullet-proof vest

The four-legged members of Miami-Dade Police’s K-9 Unit are the department’s only law enforcers to have never been equipped with bullet-proof vests, that is, until Tuesday.

A non-profit organization which specializes in lifesaving equipment for police dogs donated the vest. A 6-year-old girl whose father is a Virginia police officer started the organization.
