Cleveland County welcomes new state trooper

Nine hundred people applied. Sixty went to N.C. State Highway Basic Patrol School in Raleigh last year. Thirty-eight graduated. One is here in Cleveland County.

The Highway Patrol recently welcomed a new trooper to the county, J. Prescott III.

Prescott said he’s always wanted to be in law enforcement. He was a retail manager for grocery store chains in Florida, Asheville and Henderson.
