New K-9 Officer on the Streets in Desert Hot Springs

At the Palm Springs Police Department, they are mourning the loss of “Ike”– a K-9 officer shot and killed early Sunday morning, in the line of duty.  But for another police dog, in Desert Hot Springs, the work of fighting crime is just getting started.

“Zeus” is a 2 year old German Shepherd now fighting crime in the city.

The dog and his handler, Officer Miguel Preciado, will be working the night shift, responding to burglary calls and sniffing out drugs.

They’ve been training for months, acutely aware of the potential dangers.
