If Janet Codding could see today the impact her generosity has made on crime prevention in Yavapai County, she no doubt would be satisfied that her contribution has gone so far.
Codding was a Prescott resident and dog lover who set up an endowed fund through the Yavapai County Community Foundation to support law enforcement canines.
One of Codding’s interests was listening to the police scanner, and she especially followed the exploits of the county’s police dogs. More than 11 years ago, she established the Law Enforcement Canine Fund through YCCF to provide maintenance, care and training of the dogs throughout Yavapai County. After her death in 2003, her total contribution to the fund reached $500,000, which provides some $30,000 annually through grants for area police dogs.
