A look at the new Oregon State Police recruits

Most weeknights, they are restricted from watching television. They could be studying vehicle laws or ironing their uniforms.
But after nearly six months at the police academy in Salem, a group of Oregon State Police recruits await the last few weeks of their training — eight of the recruits will graduate this month and scatter across the state to their patrol offices. Two others will graduate later.
The group is among the first hired of 139 trooper positions dedicated by the Oregon Legislature.
