Troopers honored for investigation work
Four troopers from the Indiana State Police Versailles District were among over 80 Indiana State Police employees recognized for outstanding service at the annual awards ceremony held in Indianapolis.
Detective Tom Baxter and Trooper Mark Jenkins received awards for the investigation of the year.
They were recognized for their efforts in the 2007 investigation of the Ashley Robinson murder in Jefferson County. Their “efforts and attention to detail” led to the arrest and conviction of five individuals in her murder, the award stated.
Baxter is a 20-year veteran of the Indiana State Police and resides in Rising Sun with his wife and three children. Jenkins is an eight-year veteran of the Indiana State Police and is assigned patrol duties in Jefferson County.
Trooper David Noah received the Life Award for his efforts in driving under the influence enforcement during 2007. Noah arrested 55 individuals for driving under the influence last year.
Noah is a seven-year veteran of the Indiana State Police and is currently assigned patrol duties in Ripley County.
Trooper Matthew Haviland was selected as the Versailles District Trooper of the Year. Haviland’s all-around enforcement efforts and outstanding overall performance for 2007 earned him the award. He is an eight-year veteran of the Indiana State Police and serves as a member of the ISP South Emergency Response Team. Haviland is assigned patrol responsibilities in Decatur County.
